STREET PARKING STRESS ASSESSMENT

What does this service entail?

With the advent of promoting more sustainable modes of travel, local planning authorities have been amenable to accepting low to zero on-site car parking solutions in locations which are well connected to public transport, or where walking or cycling to a range of local amenities is possible. However, this often on the proviso that the applicant carries out a ‘parking stress’ survey of nearby streets to see how much on-street parking is generally available at different times of the day.

ACHIEVE will usually signpost the client to a recognised transport consultant, well used to carrying out such survey work, often to what is called the ‘Lambeth method’. ACHIEVE will then summarise the results of such survey work to make a convincing case to justify the level of on-site parking relative to that usually required under the Development Plan/guidance for the area.
