ACHIEVE was brought to this project by Farlocke Construction Service Ltd, following the withdrawal of an earlier application (16/02112/FUL) made to Winchester City Council.  A plot sub-division was sought to construct a new dwelling (see aerial shot below).

Located fronting a private street with marked topography, the application had attracted widespread interest from neighbours.

ACHIEVE was commissioned to unpick the comments made, including reference to a local design guide strategy for the area adopted in 2007 referencing highway capacity issues and make a full contextual/site history assessment to inform a pre-application enquiry to the council.  In the spirit of public consultation, those who had written to the council on the withdrawn application were also written to and offered the same pre-application information pack sent to the council.

A private presentation of the site constraints and design principles was also given to The City of Winchester Trust, which offered useful feedback for the client.

A written response has been received from the council confirming that the principle of an additional dwelling is tenable and ACHIEVE is now awaiting further instructions to proceed to the full application stage.
